Kutira
and Raphael founded Kahua Records in 1992. It is an artist-owned
independent record label that celebrates the merging of spirit
and ecstasy in the body, and into everyday life. Their music is an offering towards the good of humanity, and begins
in the heart. Kutira explains, "The heart is what carries into
the universe. It is mature hearts that will bring ultimate ecstasy
onto this planet."
As music composers they are renowned worldwide for their spiritual,
shamanic, new Aegean ethnic recordings. Their inspiration is drawn
from the spiritual traditions of many world religions, including
the traditions of the Hawaiian people.
Together they have released nine albums. They are currently working
on their new CD, The Eternal Feminine, due to be released
in the Fall, 2007. In 1999 they released Prayer, with
blessings from around the world set to original music. Their bestseller
is the Hawaiian ethno-beat The Calling, released in 1995.
In 1994 they introduced the sensuous and meditative Like An
Endless River, as well as the joyful and celebratory The
Opening. Tantric Wave is the first album they co-produced
together, in 1992. Consisting of sensual music for Tantric lovemaking,
this album is also available as a guided meditation in English
and German. Raphael has also released under the Hearts
of Space label, the groundbreaking new age classic Music to Disappear
In (I and II), Angels of the Deep, and Intimacy.
With their sounds of magic, ritual, and love, these two innovators
continue to stretch the boundaries of contemporary music. Raphael
is considered by many to be one of the pioneers of the phrase "New Age
music".
